CCC panel examines
indie music publishing

Industry leaders to appear in a panel presentation
Tuesday, February 9, in Los Angeles

Music publishing is a big business, yet today's indie publishers need to be prepared for economic challenges and legal hurdles that are facing the entire publishing industry. On Tuesday, February 9 in Los Angeles, the California Copyright Conference will present a panel discussion that examines the current music publishing trends in today's climate of consolidation, mergers and acquisitions.

"This will be a wide-ranging discussion," notes Eric Palmquist, CCC Board Member and Senior Manager of Disney Music Publishing, "and one point to be examined will be the changing definition of just what is an independent music publisher. I know everyone with an interest in making money from music will want to be here as we talk with the heads of some leading independent publishers and get their unique viewpoints on hot topics from the music publishing arena."

Panelists for this event are:
— David Hirshland
(President, Bug Music)
— Kenny McPherson (President, Chrysalis Music Group)
— Ron Sobel (President of North Star Media; Partner at Winogradsky/Sobel; and Chair/Music Business Division, McNally Smith College of Music)
— Kathy Spanberger (peermusic, President, Anglo American Region)
— Randall Wixen (President and Founder, Wixen Music Publishing)

Moderating the panel will be Eric Polin (Sr. VP, Music Publishing, Universal Pictures)
